Council Tax band charge calculator

Every band's charge is a fixed statutory ratio of its council's Band D rate. Enter a Band D rate and pick the nation to see what each band pays for 2026-27. Pre-filled with the UK average Band D of £2,337.

The calculator uses each nation's statutory schedule: England's A-H ratios, Wales's A-I ratios, or Scotland's A-H ratios including the higher E-H multipliers effective since April 2017. Pick the nation first, then change the Band D figure to derive the other bands. The default comes from our 2026-27 dataset of 350 billing authorities; see the methodology for the official sources and coverage limits.

Ratios are statutory (Local Government Finance Act 1992; Scotland's E–H reflect the April 2017 reform; Wales adds Band I). Charges shown are the band component derived from the Band D rate you enter; your actual bill may include parish or special-expense adjustments. Monthly figure assumes the common 10-instalment schedule. The sole-occupant column applies the statutory 25% single-person discount (the most-claimed reduction), payable when only one adult lives in the property.
